MathematischeGesellschaft Classifying spaces for families and the Farrell-Jones Conjecture |
Speaker:Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Lück, Universität Bonn
Organizer:Mathematisches Institut
Details:
Kolloquium anlässlich 80. Geburtstag Prof. Dr. Tammo tom Dieck
Abstract:
The notion of a classifying space for families was introduced by tom Dieck and plays a prominent role in various areas in mathematics.
We will give the basic notion, elementary properties and discuss nice models, which come from and are relevant for questions in algebra, geometry, groups theory and topology.
Then we will discuss their appearance in the Farrell-Jones Conjecture and present the status and applications of the Farrell-Jones Conjecture.
