Details:
How many rational points are near a compact planar curve, or more generally near a compact manifold in n-dimensions?
We discuss the state of the art concerning this question. We explain why, in several important instances, one can provide an answer by using pure Fourier analysis.
The content of the talk is based on joint work with Rajula Srivastava (U. Bonn/MPIM).
