How leptin shapes the somatosensory thalamic circuit

European Neuroscience Institute Göttingen (ENI-G)
Paula Patricia Perissinottis research centers on the cellular and molecular basis of neuronal function. She examines how ion channels and ionic conductances shape neuronal excitability and synaptic transmission, with a particular focus on thalamic and hypothalamic circuits. She has made important contributions to understanding how leptin modulates neuronal activity, including its effects on calcium channels and TRPC channel complexes that regulate firing patterns and synaptic integration. Through these studies, her research sheds light on how metabolic signals interact with neural circuits to influence brain function and behavior.
Dr. Perrisinotti is currently a visiting scientist at CIDBN in Göttingen in the Biophysics of Neural Computation group.
