How can classical Chinese literary works be transformed into creative visual and writing practices in the Chinese language instruction?
This lecture presents a wide range of practical examples and teaching strategies: from introducing young learners to the characters of Journey to the West (《西游记》), to collaborative storytelling projects based on Romance of the Three Kingdoms (《三国演义》), as well as picture-book-inspired reading and writing activities built around Luo Shen Fu (《洛神赋》) and The Ballad of Mulan (《木兰辞》).
Together, we will explore how classical works from te Chinese-speaking world can be reimagined through creative and learner-oriented approaches that resonate with contemporary students.
