Quantum symmetries of classical spaces
26.4.2018, 16:15 - 17:15

Details:
Quantum groups are certain generalisations of groups. They act on quantum spaces and there is a vibrant community studying such quantum (aka noncommutative) extensions of classical geometry and algebra. However, more recently, quantum groups also are studied as symmetries of classical geometric objects (topological spaces, manifolds, varieties etc). I will explain what that means and summarise some recent progress and future questions, reporting in particular on my joint work with Manuel Martins and Angela Tabiri.
