Optimization and paradoxical decompositions
12.4.2018, 16:15 - 17:15
Speaker:Dr. Robert Simon, London School of Economics
Location:Mathematisches Institut, Bunsenstr 3-5SitzungszimmerGras Geo Map
Organizer:Mathematisches Institut
Details:
We consider a probability space and colourings of this space with finitely many colours such that the colour of a point is determined by the colour of finitely many of its neighbors (as defined by measure preserving transformations). We explore when such colouring rules force paradoxical decompositions, and in particular show that this is possible where those rules are defined by optimizations.
